Finding Your Spiritual Teacher

There’s no doubt that people glorify the idea of having a sensei to share the in’s and out’s of mystical realms, meditation and the abundance of life. The reality is, you have many teachers around you willing to help, but you graciously overlook them and their wisdoms, unknowingly.

About two years ago, I was meditating and I met my spirit guide (See other article)

When I met him, he was walking through my own tailored nature spot; moss, fallen trees, a little creek, big rocks…And an overwhelming feeling came over me. It was a pure connection to nature. The same way it happens when Im watching the birds in the trees. It was a pure connection to the goodness we live on. A healing feeling, it could not have been mistaken for anything else.

Excited with the progress I was making, I awakened slowly from my meditation and carried on with my day. Later, I went to journal about the experience I had beheld. I wrote all of the feelings, a few other messages that came through and some experiences I was having in my daily life. I finished it off with the meeting of my native spirit guide. The connection to nature I felt in that experience was surreal, and that is the only way I can describe this. It was not mystical. It was life in it’s pure, brilliant, communicative beauty.

The SECOND I shut my journal, I became very aware of one of the windows in our house for some reason. So I got up, grabbed my tea and headed to the window …….TURKEYS!!

I was in awe. “In the 2 years I lived in this house, I have never seen this many turkeys!” I thought. So I took it as a sign and asked my good ‘ole friend ooglie googlee! (My humor is not for everyone, and I’m okay with that! 😉

For anyone that has not read or heard of animal totems. The word totem means family. So I take this as an ancestral animal family. People or animals who have helped me through all journeys on earth, specifically the one I travel now, and offer me guidance as they come with the different challenges/ tasks / aspirations that they traditionally represent. Now with that being said, I watch the characteristics of these beings in nature and find my own meaning or look online and read what Resonates with me.

As a New Moon ritual, I will be creating a tab for totems, ones that I have been learning from and extras that are new for me! I hope that your openness and awareness to these beautiful beings sheds light on your journey and which direction you are growing towards! Remember that teachers are always around you, and experience is only transformational when shared! Be open to the universe, it has so much to show us!

Cheers!

The Journey to Who You Are

There are an infinite amount of path’s we can walk down through our life here on earth. We can choose to live a life full of adventure, or maybe in our last life we got all of the excitement we needed to enjoy a more relaxing stay this time around. Don’t let that sound small, our presence here is still demanded.

Usually one of the first questions that transpires along your spiritual journey is, “Who am I?”. And that seems to be the first question that will provoke the answers you need to get started. The foundation of your purpose, and the self love you give yourself, sit upon the basis of understanding and accepting who you are.

Who are you? Really?

Did you skim through your memories trying to distinguish what great or not so great qualities make you feel special or different?

When I first asked myself that question I said something along the lines of “I’m really outgoing, very athletic, a good step dancer.. etc.  The reality is, we need to transcend much deeper to find out. The relief is, our memories are the best indicators!

Are you relieved? Does tapping into yourself, to who you really are under your hair and smile, scare you? My dear, it should not.

Who are you, Really?

You are a beautiful creation that was put here on purpose because you have the power to make a strong and beautiful change in this world. “You are you, that is truer than true!”

Who you are should make you feel empowered!

Only a few years ago I was the person typing “What is my life’s purpose” into google.

I’ll tell you the answer you seek:

You already know. It is inside you. It consists of the ideas and passions that spark excitement, enthusiasm, and a motivation that will be never-ending. I think the navigating trick to understanding who you are is how you find peace in silence.

Imagine one night you come home, no one is there and the power is out. What are you instinctively going to do? Perhaps you are feeling more inclined to volunteer at the shelter, or get caught up on reading. Maybe you are longing to sing your soul home and just relax.

The Practice:

Sit down with a pen and paper –somewhere you will not be interrupted. Take 10 deep breaths, and let the most prominent memories from your childhood pass by. What are you doing in them? Who are you with? Where did you go and what did you do when you needed to be alone? What are your happiest and most fulfilling memories? What did you want to be when you grew up? What challenges have you overcame that made you who you are now? What qualities do you have as a person now?

Even after all of this time I find hints of where my journey is taking me through a glimpse of childhood memories. I know you will find what you are looking for. You are the best version of yourself right now–and you are still growing and changing!

May your memories fill you with love and joy! I would love to hear how this exercise goes in the comments!

Love Always,

Charity

You Have a Purpose

No matter what life event brought you to ask about your purpose. You DO have a purpose for being here. Change is only transformation when shared. I ask that you take a second to read this passage and write down on a pad of paper what thoughts arise for you. Use your intuition to feel, hear and see what it is that lies in your heart. What it is you yearn for.

Taken from Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East…

“It has been clearly stated that life lived by the average individual is hypnotic; that is, the majority of men and women are not living life as it was intended at all. Not one in a million feels the freedom to live what he inwardly feels he should live. He has come under the world opinion of himself and this opinion is what he obeys, rather than the law of his own being. In this respect and to this degree he is living under an hypnotic spell. He lives under the delusion that he is a mere human being, living in a merely material world, and only hopes to escape it when he dies and goes to what he calls Heaven. This is not the determination intended in the plan and purpose of life. Obedience to one’s inner nature, the expression of life as he instinctively feels it ought to be expressed, is the very foundation of the life which the masters reveal as the only true mode of living.

How would you live right now if you were given the chance? What would you change? What do you THINK is restricting that dream?
How do you plan to be of service to others? What elements of the world do you long to change?

I hope that small journey inward awakes a piece of you that can’t be put back to sleep. Explore your inner self through meditation. Live and fulfill your dreams, realize that you want to live 90 years, not live one year 90 times.

Much love my friends

Presence

You are exactly where you are meant to be at this very time. Take a deep breath, and just relax. You are safe and so deserving of this time you have. We often don’t take the time to be silent, and just enjoy this present moment where you are right now. Reading. Take another deep breath. You woke up this morning feeling delightfully refreshed, you slipped some pants on, and came downstairs to see the sun shining so eloquently. Did you rush to the coffee pot? Did you drink it without admiring each drop on your taste bud? The interesting thing is, we all rush. All the time. We are SO stimulated in all of our environments that it makes it difficult to enjoy this moment you’re in RIGHT NOW. It actually makes it very easy to forget about this present moment because we are constantly being rerouted to different situations or our unconscious mind takes over and new thoughts keep arising. That is why we worry about our ride to work or why we constantly plan for the moment AHEAD of now.

Here’s a question for you. The last time you were making something to eat, were you focused on making something delicious to enjoy, or where you imagining the next chore on your list? I am making this post about the present moment because if you ask ANYONE in the world what they want in life, they all say, “I want to be happy.”.

Happiness can’t be planned and it can’t be put off (When I’m married, I’ll be happy). You can’t imagine happiness in the material possessions you attain, or the promotion you will get. They will bring you some sort of satisfaction, yes, of course! But that satisfaction will dissipate as soon as you start planning new goals to attain. Presence is the key to happiness and I am so excited to share this with you!

I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY AND SHOW OTHERS HOW TO BE HAPPY!!

You are reading my post right now, you are AWARE that in this moment you are reading my post because physically you are reading it, and mentally you are recognizing it. THAT awareness is the key to your happiness. In other words, if you are washing the dishes and you are thinking about the soapy water, suds on your hands etc, you are present in that moment. But unless you notice “I am focused on the suds as I was the dishes” you do not have awareness. So this can be a little tricky at first, but I will give one more awesome example. You have 2 minds:

  1. Your Conscious Mind is this Awareness where you recognize this moment you are in on the outside (physically) and on the inside (mentally)
  2. Your Unconscious Mind is what I will call your distractions (your feelings, worries, fears, the urge to do something else)

The only way to being in the present moment is by operating with your Conscious Mind! So the AWARENESS that you are here, reading this post, right NOW is the key. Thankfully, it is very easy to practice without having to read this post over and over again.

THE PRACTICE

When you are going about your day, simply ask yourself, “How am I feeling?”. This is like calling out the present moment. If you say anything besides happy, you need to fix your awareness back in this moment  (with your conscious mind)  because it’s likely that your unconscious mind that tries to overwhelm you with the next moment, or other feelings has taken control.

Napolean Hill was a lecturer on Success through the early 1900’s and he said,

“You either control your mind or it controls you”

And there is no better way to say it!

This practice is really easy, and if you ask yourself, “How am I feeling” even 5x a day, and you keep changing your awareness, you are actually reprogramming yourself to be in the “Here and Now”.

I made little pictures around the house to remind me, and I have to say that over three months, there is a HUGE increase in my happiness. But like anyone, I still recognize I delve in worry now and again. Awareness deepens the spiritual practise you have, and the present moment is everything so conquer it, because this is your life, your canvas, and only YOU can paint it!

Good luck and Have fun with it!

I don’t know where you are on your path
I have never stood in your shoes
I see not with your eyes.
I know not what your purpose is here
In this stage of your evolution
But I feel blessed to know you
As you are not in my life by chance
And you are my teacher
As I hope you learn from me
I pray I show reverence to you
I pray not to judge you
I wish to let you be
Who you are
Who you dream of being
I will just be beside you
And watch you grow
And the day will come for sure
When we will know why
Our paths crossed this way
And until then my friend
Be who you must be
